Tip one:

Discussing a starting salary or raise with any employer can be tricky. Learn how to get the salary you deserve with these insider tips.

Don't get personal.
Avoid any and all personal references and reasons when discussing salary. Focus on what the employer is looking for -- and how you will add value to the company or organization. Once you personalize the issue of money, your focus shifts away from your value to the employer over to your personal needs. That's not good. Employers are looking for strong competent players, not needy sponges. Keep the spotlight where it belongs, on the needs of the role and the company, not on you.
